On August 5, 1956, 33 people met for worship in a small, rented building on Webster St. Most of these people came from Bethel Baptist Church in downtown Anaheim. They came with a plan to start a new ministry here in west Anaheim. While some of the names may be familiar, like Fischer, Hartmann, and Leuschner; most of them are just names on a list. Yet together they worked diligently to glorify God and establish a ministry that has blessed our community and world for 70 years.
On January 1, 2026, we begin a new year in the life of our church. Our 70th year. While we go through physical changes of our facility, it is more important to recognize the spiritual change we celebrate as a new generation takes over the work and leadership of the ministry here. So, while 70 is a time of celebration of the history here at MBC, more importantly it is a time of anticipation. Anticipation for the next generation of ministry that will happen in our community and world as we rededicate our church to God’s work here in our community.
While we talk about our church, we come back to the basic fact that the church is not the facility, but rather each of us. Together we encourage, fellowship, grow, and worship. Together we also rededicate our ministry to this time and place, but also to future generations.
Join us this year as we celebrate Magnolia as a place that puts God first, both in the past and in the future. Each month we will celebrate a different foundational aspect of this. In January we start off as we should, with Prayer. Of course, we in end the year with Joy, the Joy of Jesus, but along the way we will focus on Family, Learning, Mission, Thankfulness, and more.d
