A place of TRUTH
Anniversary. On August 5, 1956, 33 people met for worship in a small, rented building on Webster St. They came with a plan to start a new ministry here in west Anaheim. While some of the names may be familiar, names like Fischer, Hartmann, and Leuschner; most of them we do not know. Yet together they worked diligently to glorify God and establish a ministry that has blessed our community and world for 70 years. A ministry that is founded on Prayer, Praise, Community, New Life, Family, Learning, Celebration, Truth, Service, Mission, Thankfulness, and Joy! All things that we are focusing on this year. And this month, our actual anniversary month, we focus on Truth.
Truth. And while all these things are important, none is more critical today than Truth. The Bible tells us that we should learn the Father’s way and walk in Truth (Psalms 86:11), we should follow the Spirit of Truth (John 15:26), and ultimately that Jesus is the way and the Truth (John 14:6).
Belt Up. In Paul’s list in Galatians of the Armor of God, he has a sword, helmet, breastplate – all the things that sound important and cool. But the list starts off with Truth. It likens Truth to a belt. A belt? That sounds boring! But really it is very important to a soldier because it not only pulls everything together, but it also holds some of the most important things. It is key to the armor, a foundational item.
Foundational. Truth is foundational. And Truth belongs to the Father, is expressed in the Son, and is guided by the Spirit. And of course, Truth is found in His word – the Bible. Here at MBC, the Bible – Truth – is an integral part of all we do. It is part of our church’s foundation, our weekly worship, our study, and our families. Join us in August as we celebrate our 70th Anniversary, but more importantly we celebrate sharing God’s Truth.
