John 1:18-28

One of the complaints that non-believers make about God is that he is so hidden that, if he exists, we cannot possibly know enough about him to make belief in him sensible. The famous atheist, Richard Dawkins, drawing on comments from another atheist, Bertrand Russell, said that if he were to someday meet God he would ask him, "Sir, why did you take such pains to hide yourself?" But is that really the case? Scripture, which claims to be revelation from God, would counter that with, "Are you kidding me?! Open your eyes!!!"
In Romans chapter one Paul forcefully asserts that creation, itself, serves as something like a megaphone saying, "Look! There is a creator!"
In our passage from John chapter one this week, as we approach Christmas, we come to verse 18 which says this: "No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, he has made him known." So, according to John who was an eyewitness of Jesus, God can be known even though he can't be seen and the way to know him is by looking at "the only God who is at the Father's side (heart). This, of course, is Jesus. Jesus explains God the Father. The problem is not that God hasn't revealed himself. . . the problem is that his creation is willingly blind.
